Around the Region: Suspect Charged in Hit and Run, Inmate’s Arm Disfigured in Fight and ‘Hunger Games’ Sequel to Be Filmed in Atlanta

Canton-Sixes Patch

Charges have been announced in the  on Friday.

Kenneth Gonzalez of Canton, the suspect in the hit-and-run, will face charges of reckless driving, aggravated battery, failure to report accident with injuries, failure to report accident with property damage, hit-and-run, and failure to maintain lane.

Gonzalez is accused of striking a construction worker on Interstate 575 South with his 2006 GMC Sierra and fleeing the scene.

The construction worker was taken to  in Marietta for treatment.

Cartersville Patch

Officials believe a  inmate's arm was broken in a fight with another man in detention over which would change the channel on the TV.

Inmate Anthony Troy Kiser, 50, of Cartersville, emerged from cell block 4-L with his arm "disfigured" just above the wrist after telling a jail officer he had just broken his arm, according to the  report.

Two inmates said the man fell, but a third indicated a fight over the television remote led to the injury.

“Catching Fire,” the second of the Hunger Games trilogy, will reportedly film July through December in metro Atlanta and beyond.

The first “Hunger Games” movie, filmed in North Carolina, was a box office sensation. “The Hunger Games” series, based on the young adult novel by Suzanne Collins, tells the story of young people forced to fight to the finish by the government in a post-apocalyptic world.
