Geyser Towers Jobs on the Way

Stone Mountain Park will hire additional staff for Geyser Towers - the new wet attraction coming to Stone Mountain Park in 2012 -  probably starting in February, a spokeswoman for the park said.

The family-friendly attraction, which will break ground in November, will have multiple levels of suspended rope bridges and net tunnels linking to towering platforms where you can overlook the geyser.

Job fair at Applebees

Applebee's is holding a management job fair/open house on Thursday, November 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their locations in Stone Mountain, 5200 Highway 78; and Douglasville, 6915 Douglas Boulevard.

Applebee’s wants management recruits for locations across Metro Atlanta, people age 21 or older with a valid drivers license, and preferably with a college degree or college credits.

Day and evening shifts are available for those positions. For those openings, applicants are invited to go online to http://www.myapplebeesjob.com/.

DeKalb Workforce Development exceeds performance goals

Last week DeKalb County Chief Executive Officer Burrell Ellis announced that DeKalb Workforce Development (DWD) has exceeded the Georgia Department of Labor’s performance goals for the eighth consecutive year.

DeKalb is the only county in metropolitan Atlanta to receive an overall rating of “exceeds” for the attainment of adult, dislocated worker and youth performance goals in 2010, and served the most customers during the same reporting period, according to the announcement from the CEO’s office.

“I am extremely proud of the job DeKalb Workforce Development does to assist citizens in securing employment, especially during these tough economic times,” Ellis said in the statement. “Through its work, DeKalb Workforce Development continues to ensure the DeKalb workforce is the well-trained and ready for employment opportunities.”
