May 6 - Sunday Alcohol Sales Become Reality

DeKalb County began allowing Sunday sales of alcohol last Sunday, and for some folks, this ended years of trying to beat the clock late Saturday evening to get their beverages of choice home from the package or grocery store.

May 8 - Local Schools Make Impressive List

and  high schools fared pretty well in U.S. News & World Report's rankings of the nation's best high schools.

May 10 - Purina to the Rescue for the Hearthstone Pool

Purina's Tidy Cats brand cat litter group and its traveling "PU Patrol" heard about the vandalism at Hearthstone pool late last month and put up at least $10,000 to get the "stink" out of the situation by getting the community's pool cleaned up and repaired. 

May 11- Just in Time for Mother's Day: "A Mother's Gift" 

Andy Isakson, whose company is behind the creation of Stone Mountain's Park Springs continuing care retirement community, wrote a beautiful and touching piece about his mother. 

May 11 - Lookin' Alive on 11 Alive

It was still dark when merchants and organizations set up displays in the parking lot near the gazebo for 11 Alive, which broadcast its morning show from the city of Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain High School marching band performed, there was lots of cheering on camera and of course free publicity for the Village.
