Name and location: Food King Restaurant, 832 Hambrick Road, Suite C

Score: 77/C

Previous scores: NA on June 24, 2011 and 63 on June 16, 2011

Violations cited: The cook was seen seen using bare hands with tofu, vegan fish (ed: What is that?) and sliced onions. Hot foods weren't kept hot enough. The latest inspection report wasn't posted. No hot water at the hand sink near the restroom. There were plumbing leaks.

 

Name and location: Golden Krust, 1267 Hairston Road

Score: 91/A

Previous scores: 88/B on Aug. 12, 2010 and 88/B on Jan 11, 2010

Violations cited: An employee was seen using the hand-wash sink for wiping cloths. Bread was stored where it was exposed to storage shelf and dust. A cardboard was used as a liner for cooling bread. The light inside the walk-in freezer wasn't shielded. Employees' personal belongings weren't stored in the proper place. 

 

JUNE 27

Name and location: Brusters Ice Cream, 4844 Redan Road

Score: 94/A

Previous scores: 95/A on April 9, 2010 and 96/A on Nov. 12, 2009

Violations cited: Chemicals weren't stored in original containers and not labeled with common name or usage. Chemicals were stored next to equipment and food utensils. Household pesticides were used in the facility. 

 

Name and location: G & M Red Sea Cafe, 4112 Redan Road, Suite 1

Score: 92/A

Previous scores: 74/C on May 17, 2011 and 100/A on Sept. 21, 2010

Violations cited: Cooked vegetables and cooked beef in coolers weren't marked properly with the date. The most recent inspection report wasn't posted. The exterior of the freezer, grill and fryers were not clean and had food accumulation.

 

JUNE 24

Name and location: 1804 Restaurant and Lounge, 5481 Memorial Drive

Score: 94/A (new permit)

Previous scores: 86/B on June 23, 2011

Violations cited in the report: The menu didn't include an advisory about the risks of eating raw or undercooked foods. There was no hot water in the women's restroom. A faucet was leaking at the hand sink in the kitchen area. 

 

Name and location: Commissary, Stone Mountain Park

Score: 93/A

Previous scores: 94/A on April 2, 2010 and 86/B on Dec. 12, 2008

Violations cited: Surfaces in contact with food weren't clean (food carts, metal shelving, storage shelves, can opener). There was grease build-up on the floor behind he fryline and standing water in spots on the kitchen floors.

JUNE 20

Name and location: Cafe J, 4853 Memorial Drive

Score: 95/A

Previous scores: 95/A on March 9, 2010 and 100/A on Sept. 3, 2009

Violations cited: Cornstarch, oil and rice were stored on the floor. Signs directing staff to wash hands weren't seen at the hand sink in the kitchen. The employee office smelled of cigarette smoke (no smoking is allowed in the establishment). Employees' belongings weren't stored in the right place. 

 

Name and location: Papa John's Pizza, 386-C North Deshon Road

Score: 85/B

Previous scores: 95/A on April 26, 2010

Violations cited: Dust on shelves of the walk-in cooler. There was food debris on storage bins in the back storage area. Garlic sauce was kept at room temperature at the prep counter longer than the code allows. The rear hand-wash sink was clogged.

 

JUNE 17

Name and location: Kings Wings, 4420 Rockbridge Raod, Suite 3

Score: 95/A

Previous scores: N/A, new permit

Violations cited: The restaurant had no food thermometer and no thermometer in the refrigeration units. No signs directing employees to wash their hands wasn't seen at hand sinks and in the employee restroom. There was no device to test the concentration of sanitizing solutions. 

 

JUNE 15

Name and location: Park Springs (Bistro), 500 Spring House Circle

Score: 95/A

Previous scores: 94/A on Dec. 14, 2010 and 95/A on May 4, 2010

Violations cited: Water spots on washed drinking glasses. Countertops around the service area had food debris. Floors under the kitchen equipment were dirty with trash and rags. 

 

JUNE 13

Name and location: Wing Fling, 4787 Redan Road

Score: 87/B

Previous scores: 84/B on July 30, 2010 and 88/B on Dec. 16, 2009

Violations cited: Sauce containers weren't clean. Ice cooler wasn't cold enough for potentially hazardous foods (raw chicken wings). Single-serve containers weren't stored properly away from possible contamination. Lights weren't shielded and protected. Screen was loose at the back door.
