SnoBall Cafe Opening; Activity at Former Hairston's

Take a look at what's new in local business.

New Orleans SnoBall Cafe is slated to open up in Stone Mountain Village for the Fourth of July (let's hope for a reprieve from the rain).

Here's the restaurant's Facebook post: "Mayor of Stone Mountain, Patricia Wheeler, welcomes NOSC for our fourth of July celebration!!!
Come to 5407 E Mountain Street between 5-7p to set up on the lawn! At 7, order your favorite snowballs and popcorn until the fireworks begin! Come enjoy the fun!!!"

A New Life for Former Hairston's?

Patch noticed last Wednesday some vehicles and activity at the former Hairston's on S. Hairston Road. So we stopped by and chatted with owner Frank Walker, who said some cleaning up is going on for what may be a new life for the establishment. No specifics just yet, but stay tuned.

Speaking of South Hairston Road....

What's happening at the former KFC/Long John Silver's?

We also noticed a few days ago a company putting up a fresh white covering over the existing sign areas at the former KFC/Long John Silver's across from the S. Hairston Kroger. No business name is on the signs (as of July 3) and DeKalb County property tax records, also as of July 3, don't indicate any new sale information. We'll keep our eyes open on this one, too.

Kool Runnings Closed

A Stone Mountain-Lithonia Patch Facebook follower alerted us to some news about the Kool Runnings restaurant on Memorial Drive, which she said was closed. Indeed, it is - complete with some boarded-up areas. There's a sign that gives contact information for a broker at KW Commercial. We will post updates when we know more.

Fitness Center Moves

D. Renard's Personal Training Studio, formerly of 900 Main Street in the city of Stone Mountain, recently made a move is now more in the center of things in the Village.

The new address is 937 Main Street. That's where Clayborne Fashions used to be.

New gallery signs in the village

Have you seen the signs up on the SMart Inc. galleries in Stone Mountain Village? They've been up for several weeks now and they bring some continuity along Main Street.
