Stone Mountain Stars and Strikes to Begin Hiring Soon

Family entertainment facility hopes to open its newest location, on Mountain Industrial Blvd., in June and plans to fill about 100 positions to start.

Stars and Strikes, the multi-faceted, family-centered entertainment facility, will soon take up the spot on Mountain Industrial Boulevard left by the Atlanta Fun Center, and it plans to start the process of filling certain positions as early as next week.

Chris Albano, managing partner for Stars and Strikes, said the company probably will advertise for some supervisory roles during the last week of April, then, in the latter part of May, have a job fair to look for additional employees.

“Hopefully we’ll have a lot of folks come over,” Albano said.

Albano said a company meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 22 to decide exact dates and hiring strategies for the new location, which will bring on about 100 employees or so to start.

Stars and Strikes is scheduled to open its newest, 50,000 square foot Stone Mountain/Tucker facility, which will be its fourth, in June. It has other locations in in Dacula, Cumming and Dallas, Georgia.

Among the positions to be filled for the Stone Mountain Stars and Strikes are bartenders, servers, kitchen employees, game room personnel and others.

“By the time we get to the first week in June, we’ll have the initial hires [in place],” Albano said. There will be a mix of hourly and salaried positions, and some experienced employees from its other sites will help get the new location launched.

The company is making an investment of $2.5 million to convert the former Atlanta Fun Center building into a place for a number of different activities and interests.

It will have 24 bowling lanes; a 7,000-plus square foot arcade; a “lazer tag” arena; bumper cars; a foam-ball-shooting arena called Balladium; WiFi; a full-service restaurant; two rooms for parties; and a larger event area that can comfortably seat a little more than 200 people, Albano said. Stars and Strikes is currently forming fall bowling leagues.

The Stone Mountain/Tucker area is ideal for several reasons, Albano said. Location is one – it’s close to Highway 78 and is also easy to get to on Mountain Industrial. Another good attribute of the area is the family income range, between $60,000 and $85,000, which is in line with the areas surrounding its other locations.

“We look for a market that has people, the financial wherewithal, and then accessibility. It is very important that people can get to our front door easily," he said.

Being a stone’s throw from one of the state’s biggest attractions doesn’t hurt, either.

“Everybody knows where Stone Mountain is in Georgia,” Albano said. “This location is phenomenal.”
