Snow Mountain Looking to Hire Nearly 200 Attendants

Stone Mountain is accepting applications for their attendant positions during Snow Mountain season, which will start operating Thanksgiving week.

Stone Mountain Park is currently accepting applications for the Snow Mountain attendant position, a seasonal part-time job starting the first week of Thanksgiving.

Snow Mountain, which transforms the park into a winter wonderland filled with attractions, rides and flaky-white snow and opens Nov. 23, is looking to fill nearly 200 employee positions, primarily for the Snow Mountain attendant.

According to Stone Mountain recruiting specialist Connie Kasputis, the role of an attendant has many different hats: They greet guests at attractions, answer guests' questions, operate the snow lift, and help manage crowds and lines.

They also make sure that guests are seated properly on rides and have the correct time stamps for reserved tickets before entering attractions, similar to rides at Six Flags or Disney World.

The job of an attendant can be physically demanding, too. Attendants are on their feet a majority of the time, said Kasputis, and jobs such as shoveling snow and pushing people in inner tubes for attractions can require some body strength.

Weather conditions are another aspect to consider, especially since this is an outdoors job: Being in metro Atlanta, oftentimes the weather can range from 70 degrees to 20 degrees in the winter.

Hours for the attendant position are usually 16 hours on Saturdays and Sundays, where workers will have either a morning shift (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or an evening shift (3 p.m. to 11 p.m.). Snow Mountain is mainly open only on weekends, but it will have extended operation hours during the holidays, so more than 16 hours may be required at times.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Those who are friendly, enthusiastic and interactive with others are sought.

"Passion to make memorable experiences for the guests is key," said Kasputis.

Kasputis said being an attendant can be rewarding and fun, especially when seeing the reactions of guests who have never seen snow before.

"The workers who have been originally from up North, it brings back such a memorable experience for them," added Kasputis.

Applications are being accepted now, and interviews will start in September. In October, paid training classes will begin for attendants. Those interested in the Snow Mountain Attendant position can apply online here
