Update: Shopping Center Owner Unavailable to Meet With Citizens Due to Schedule

Updated 6:43 a.m. 12/12/12: Patch received an e-mail from Jerry Bedrin of the Bedrin Organization, which owns the Memorial Bend Shopping Center, stating that due to meetings with several prospective tenants and county officials today it will be too "tight" to hold a formal gathering with citizens concerned about the Publix leaving the center next month.

However, he wrote, he is "happy to speak w interested neighbors on my cell" which is 201-803-7113.

The owner of the Memorial Bend Shopping Center is coming to metro Atlanta this week and said he can meet at the end of the business day on Wednesday, Dec. 12, with citizens concerned about the Publix in the center closing.

"If there’s a desire for people to meet with me I’ll make arrangements to open the center [for a meeting place]," Jerry Bedrin, partner with the said Sunday. He can be contacted at 201-803-7113.

Bedrin's trip will include visits to other grocery stores he's been in contact with and DeKalb county's director of economic development, Charles Watley, he said.

The Publix supermarket at Memorial Bend is closing Jan. 9. A spokeswoman with Publix said the store has been underperforming for years.
