Yes it seems to be a wally mart invasion. Is that a good or bad thing?

Dekalb County is said to be one of the richest counties some years back wondering if they read the same reports?

There will be more vacant retail space in the Lithonia market. The shoplifters want have to drive up to the Panola area. Thanks Walmart.

There is already one super Walmart 2 exist up off of Panola - what in the world? I live in Lithonia and do not want another. Need a Tuesday Morning or something similar out there. I don't get it at and do not support it.

We need a grocery store in the Stonecrest area not a Walmart Super Center. There are already 2 Walmarts within 7 miles in each direction. I'm sickened to learn that Covington/Panola will get the Walmart Neighborhood Market. They at least have Aldi's and Kroger. We have no grocery stores within 15 minutes of Stonecrest and a Walmart could have put the Neighborhood Market concept here instead of a Super center which could bring the area down. Well Target it looks like you'll have some competition now.

It's about time that area got a grocery store. After all these years, no other grocery retailer eyed the area. Besides, Walmart on Farrington is horrible!

When will they start hiring?
Leslie Johnson December 23, 2012 at 02:11 PM
Hi Roshia, they probably won't start hiring for quite a while since they just starting working the land, but I'll see if I can get some info from the Walmart folks -- likely after the holidays.

I didn't like it when they moved Walmart from Wesley Chapel Rd to Panola. I've lived here since 1983 and this area has went down hill. I guess we can bring the people from Wesley Chapel to Panola on down to Stonecrest Mall. I hope they have more coming in the front door than going out the back door... This is one of the reasons they closed Ingles on Panola and Covington Hwy where the Big Lot is located because of the theft.. DeKalb County, Rich? Not in this area..

We need a grocery store near, I hate Panola Location
Sanchez L. Burns-Turner July 15, 2013 at 04:44 PM
As much as i agree with other's about this walmart being less than 5 miles away from the one on Panola. I feel like it will be the same as the ones who protested about the walmart on Memorial Drive, but i gurantee you those same ones who said we don't want the Walmart here was the main ones in thier shopping! Im just glad more jobs are coming, but i would appreciate the store being kept up to standards as the walmarts in the upscale parts of Metro Atlanta.

The "jobs" Walmart is so called bringing leaves very little to be desired. I don't shop there anymore, Sams either haven't in the past year and half. They may hire, not paying at a living wage, hours reduces to barely PT, slashing or totally cutting off benefits altogether and the people hired were hired under temp status not even permanent PT workers. The place is a wasteland and I hate to see it over running the communities nearby. They bring nothing worthwhile. Greedy mega corporation that caused pain to many I'll never support them. Many of my friends work there and want to quit after decades of service its that bad, they are being forced out by lack of hours. One friend 18 years she's been with the company they forced her out because the stores don't want to pay her anymore. They told her to quit or go PT. Going PT reduced her pay from $18.50 an hour to $7.75. 40 hrs a week to 18-22 hrs a week. They terminated her at one store, hired her as a TEMP at another store in another state for $7.75, after all these year. That is one person, one of many stories that I know of personally.
