New Resale Shop in Stone Mountain Village; Lithonia Walmart Construction Progressing; Bare Feet Shoes Coming to Lithonia

Here are some recent happenings in the local world of business:

RAGS on Main

Have you noticed the beautiful new display window on Main Street in Stone Mountain Village? That's "RAGS" -- which stands for Resale Accessories Garments & Shoes.

The store is a subsidiary of the not-for-profit Prevention Partners Inc., whose president and CEO, Rose Robins Troupe, has "a passion for prevention," she recently told Patch. Troupe owns the store along with Shirley Caldwell, director of project development

Proceeds from RAGS will help with with Prevention Partners' many efforts, including health screenings, awareness about childhood obesity, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and programs such as lunch for the homeless.

RAGS is at 945 Main Street.

"Coming Soon" to the Stonecrest Area

There are at least three "coming soon" signs up in the Stonecrest area of Lithonia.

Just a couple of doors away from Anna's Linens, Bare Feet Shoes and SM Hair Boutique are heralding their arrival.

Also, the former Malcolm Cunningham dealership on Mall Parkway is getting some attention. A large "Stonecrest Kia Coming Soon" sign (see photo) was on the building about a week ago, and now crews are doing some work to the structure.

New Walmart Shaping Up Next to Sam's Club in Lithonia

Construction is progressing steadily on the new Walmart supercenter next to Sam's Club on Turner Hill Road in Lithonia.

The store is slated for a July 2013 opening and will hire up to 400 people.
