New Memorial Drive Walmart Could Have Summer Groundbreaking

General contractor bidding process begins in the middle of June, spokesman said.

With , retailing giant Walmart is moving ahead with its plans for a Memorial Drive store near N. Hairston Road.

Walmart's bidding process for general contractors begins in the middle of June, spokesman Glen Wilkins said in an e-mail. The entire process takes about three weeks. Wilkins said he hopes for the ground "to be broken in a month after that."

The store, will create about 300 jobs. The location would include a grocery component, deli, fresh produce, pharmacy and garden center but no Tire and Lube Express, Wilkins has said.
