From a "Frog Slog" to the Run, Walk and Roll annual race and Snellville Days, there's fun, fundraising and even some learning to be had in and around Stone Mountain this weekend (thanks to Stone Mountain city council member Nan Nash for passing along the Derby Party and Masonic Lodge breakfast information through her "Nan's News" newsletter).

1. What: Run, Walk ‘n Roll Race, held by (FODAC)

When: May 5, 8 a.m. for 5K runners, 9 a.m. for the 2K walk or roll race

Why Go: It's a great and healthy way to help out FODAC, which provides home medical equipment to the disabled community at little or no cost.

2. What: Free Comic Book Day

When: May 5

Where: 5615 Memorial Drive and other participating stores

Why go: You get something for you or the comic book lover in your life - for free!

3. What: Frog Slog

When: May 5, 5:30 p.m.

Where: Panola Mountain State Park, 2600 Highway 155, SW, Stockbridge

Why Go: Now this is something the nature lovers in your family will surely dig. This program will teach you how to identify frogs by their calls. You'll get to check out wetlands and streams in search of frogs and salamanders, so get ready to get wet and muddy. Bring a flashlight, headlamp, nets, seines and buckets, too. Meet at the Nature Center.

4. What: Full Moon Night Hike

When: May 5, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Panola Mountain State Park, 2600 Highway 155, SW, Stockbridge.

Why Go: A full moon night hike sounds like a real adventure, not to mention a bit romantic. Bring flashlights, hiking boots and water. Meet at the Nature Center 15 minutes before each program.

You must register in advance by calling 770-389-7801. Cost: $7 plus $5 parking.

5. What: Monthly country style breakfast (first Saturday of the month)

When: May 5, 7-9:30 a.m.

Where: Masonic Lodge #449, 840 V.F.W. Drive in Stone Mountain, GA 30086

Why Go: It's only $5. There aren't many places where you can find a $5 breakfast in this town.

What: Derby Party

When: May 5, 4 p.m.

Where:

Why Go: Not going to the Kentucky Derby? This might be the next best thing. Wear a fancy hat and watch the race at this restaurant, a Stone Mountain institution. To make a reservation, call 770-498-0329

6. What:

When: May 5-6

Where: Briscoe Park, Snellville
