Free T-shirts to Promote Village During TV Broadcast
Channel 11 will broadcast its morning show May 11 in front of the gazebo from 4:30-7 am.
Channel 11 will broadcast its morning show in Stone Mountain Village on Friday, May 11, and there's an effort afoot to make sure the area gets plenty of promotion while the city's in the spotlight.
Jack Sartain, vice president of Main Street Stone Mountain, said there are a limited number of T-shirts -- 200 -- that people can pick up from next week to wear during the broadcast at the gazebo in the middle of town on May 11, 4:30-7 a.m.
The T-shirts, which say "Stone Mountain Village, your art and cultural destination," will be available to next Thursday afternoon, May 10, or between 5:30-6 a.m. Friday, the morning of the broadcast.

"We're trying to have a flash mob," Sartain said. He's also asking "anybody that has a positive interest in the business of Stone Mountain, bring three people" to further build up the city.
City manager Barry Amos said businesses in the area can set up displays such as tents and/or tables in the parking lot next to the depot - and they might get some attention from Channel 11's roaming camera.

The television station will highlight the city's history and its micro-enterprise project, SMART Inc, he said.
