Evermore CID Taps Jim Brooks for Director

After an an exhaustive search that included more than two dozen applicants, Evermore CID has tapped Jim Brooks to lead the embattled organization, again. 

Brooks, who previously led the community improvement district from May 2009 to September 2010, was ousted 11 months ago following infighting among board members at the time. Still, interim director said Brooks was the "best qualified" candidate to fill the position.

Hill had served as the interim director since November, but he did not see the position of permanent director. During his tenure, the board has become more stabilized with several new members.

In his application letter to Evermore CID, Brooks said that his previous experience there would be most helpful.

"I am extremely committed to this effort personally and professionally," he said in the letter. "My experience as the formed executive director of the Evermore CID will prove invaluable in moving the CID forward."

Brooks was among just , which also included Snellville Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer. According to a news report, there were 27 candidates in total.

Brooks, who is from Macon, has a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He is currently the principal of consulting firm LEA, Inc. (Law Enforcement Associates) in Macon. Before coming to Evermore CID in 2009, he was the interim city manager in Snellville.

The board will soon announce a meeting to finalize Brooks' hire, which should happen within the next two weeks, according to a press release from Evermore CID.
