Update: Artisan Restaurant Closed 'Temporarily'

A short sale of the business is "pending."

Update Friday, April 26, 11:55 a.m.

Artisan owner Cary Hamilton contacted Patch late Friday morning to update us on the restaurant's future. "We are not actually closing but are just closed temporarily for new management to begin operations. I will let you know in just a few days what the future holds."

The struggling Artisan Restaurant in Stone Mountain Village that has been on the market for the last five months is now closed.

A former customer told Patch that owner Cary Hamilton "really tried to make it work."

A sign on the door said Artisan closed "due to a pending sale," but it's not clear if this means an offer on the property has been made. Hamilton did not respond to a phone call or email Thursday.

Hamilton told Patch in December that he wanted to sell the business because he planned to "devote more time (to) franchising the concept."
