Lithonia Singers Face the Music
Four local girls competed in a music contest over the weekend.
Lithonia residents Amauriah Davis, 10, Jayaira Hargrow, 13, Kiki Evans, 14, and Zemirah Davis, 14, competed as finalists in the Greater Atlanta McDonald's Gift Youth Singing Competition on Sunday at the Rialto Center for the Arts in downtown Atlanta.
The contest showcased musical artists between the ages of 9 and 15 from the greater Atlanta area. It's designed to expose youth to successful career opportunities in music, performing arts, marketing and related fields through education, technical tools and life skills assistance.
The girls, who came through a qualifying competition in April, were not among the winners this time, but graciously posed for photos after the event.
