Local Actor Playing Convicted DeKalb Cop

Henry Louis Adams plays Derrick Yancey in an upcoming film.

Local actor Henry Louis Adams will play the role of convicted DeKalb County police officer Derrick Yancey for a film to be shown on television this summer.

Adams, a frequent Patch blogger who lives in Stone Mountain, portrays the man who is now in prison for killing his wife and another man in 2008. Yancey maintained his innocence in a WSB interview last year.Β  Β

The movie is part of TV One's 'Fatal Attraction' series and will be broadcast on July 1.

"How awesome is it that an actor is chosen from the exact same town as a crime happened to play a man with so much controversy surrounding him in this sad and twisted story," said Adams in an email to Patch.

The actor has appeared in movies such as 'Lottery Ticket' and 'Joyful Noise.' He is also a minister and an activist on the dangers of celebratory gunfire.
