Frugal Family: Fall Fun Edition

Details and pricing (along with some discounts) on corn mazes, ghost tours, and more!

When fall comes around each year, many families make an annual trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out a jack o’lantern, get lost in the corn maze, and enjoy other fall activities. Here are prices and specials for a few nearby.

Washington Farms, 5671 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville. (706) 769-0627

One admission ticket includes all activities, including the corn maze, jumping pillows, hayrides, vortex tunnel, petting zoo, one shot each for the corn and pumpkin cannons, and one ride on the cow train, as well as slides, play areas, and viewing of the pig and duck races. Additional shots on the vegetable cannons and the cow train rides can be purchased separately. Pumpkins can be chosen from the patch for $.045 pound. Admission prices -  Under 2: free; Ages 2-4: $8, Ages 5 and up: $12; over 65: $10. Farm activities are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Corn Dawgs, 955 Leone Avenue, Loganville. (770)786-9000

Corn Dawgs offers several different levels of pricing. They offer free “pumpkin passes” for those wishing to come in and look at and shop for pumpkins and fall decorations. Children 2 and under are always free. General admission tickets for ages 3 and older are $12 and include many activities, including several different mazes (including the corn maze), swings, hayrides, petting zoo, slides, playgrounds, cow train, and more. The “All Inclusive Admission” includes everything in general admission, plus bungee trampolines, corn and apple canons, gem mining, zip lines, and more. For those who can’t get enough, season passes that pay for themselves in just a few visits can be purchased (General Admission season passes are $28 and All Inclusive season passes are $56). Corn Dawgs also occasionally runs special offers on their Facebook page, as well.  Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Uncle Shuck’s offers free admission to the pumpkin patch, with separate admission charged for activities. Kids 4 and under are free. Admission prices are as follows: Corn maze - $10; Corn maze and hay ride - $13; Haunted maze (select evenings) - $13; Corn maze, haunted maze, and hayride - $16; Hayride (nights include bonfire and marshmallows) - $5. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more ($1 off prices listed above). Click here to save $1 on the corn maze. Open daily through Halloween, then weekends through November 20.

"A Tour of Southern Ghosts" at ART Station, Stone Mountain Park. This lantern-lit tour, running on Thursday through Sunday nights through October 31, features six storytellers presenting silly and scary ghost stories of the South. Tours begin at 7:00 pm and depart every ten minutes. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at the box office beginning at 6:45, or purchased in advance for a discount (adults are $12, kids remain at $7). Kids tickets can be purchased at a discounted price of $3 if bought in groups of ten or more. Visit the web site for more details.
