Grace Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival & Family Fun Day

THE SIXTH ANNUAL GRACE ATLANTA CARIBBEAN JERK FESTIVAL RETURNS WITH HEADLINERS THIRD WORLD & MR. VEGAS - SEPTEMBER 4, NOON UNTIL 10 P.M. AT PANTHERSVILLE STADIUM   

ATLANTA -- It's a labor of love on Sunday, September 4 as the Grace Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival and Family Fun Day returns to Panthersville Stadium - 2817 Clifton Springs Road in Decatur, Georgia, from 12 noon to 10 p.m.  For a sixth year, thousands are expected to enjoy this celebration of the finest of island culture and cuisine.  Festival founder Glen Simmonds feels this edition will be bigger and better than before. “The Jerk Festival team has really worked hard to ensure that we continue to be one of the Atlanta Caribbean community’s signature calendar events,” says Simmonds who lauds the additions of a video gaming station, Dominoes/Luda tournaments, and a Kids Fun Zone.   

On the main stage representing the best in beats will be legendary hit makers Third World.  The seven-time Grammy nominated reggae group, with classics like Try Jah Love and Now That We've Found Love still in club rotation, will also play from their latest project, Patriots.  Dancehall superstar, Mr. Vegas will close things down with his crowd favorites Heads High, Sweet Jamaica, and the smash hit, I Am BlessedErrol Moore and Revolution Band lead top reggae/jazz/ calypso bands and DJs to round out the entertainment.

This year's battle for Atlanta's Top Jerk Chef ought to be heated as 12 year-old defending champ, Essence Snowden, faces a field of noted restaurateurs, caterers, and prior champion Everton Welch, whose traditional methods are true to the bone.  Food enthusiasts are invited to attend the jerk preparation demonstrations, celebrity cook-off, and to sample some of the Caribbean's famous products and dishes.
