Weekend Planner: May Dance, Wizard of Oz, Tucker Day

Try those events, or you can treat Mom to the Lasershow at Stone Mountain Park.

Whether you're honoring Mom, grandmother or the mother figure in your life, or you're just looking for a way to entertain the kids, check out the following fun activities in and around Stone Mountain this weekend:

1. What: May Dance

When: Saturday, May 12. Dancers perform at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Why go: Have a fun time dancing around the May Pole -- or enjoy watching dancers in costume dance do so on the deck.

2. What: "The Wizard of Oz"

When: Saturday, May 12,  2-4 p.m. 

Where: Hairston Crossing Library, 4911 Redan Road

Why go:  It's a classic!

Cost: Free.

3. What: Kids Outdoor Adventure Festival

When: Saturday, May 12, 12 p.m.

Where: Panola Mountain State Park, 2600 Highway 155, SW
Stockbridge

Why go: Kids 15 and younger can hook a catfish or bluegill as they learn about aquatic habitats, and other fish stuff (bring your own bait and rods). There will be an archery range, fly-fishing, tree climbing, orienteering, and a drawing for a bow and arrow set. Meet at Alexander Lake.

4. What: Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision

When: Saturday, May 12 (other May dates are May 19, May 26), 9:30 p.m.

Where: , Memorial Lawn

Why go: If you haven't seen the Lasershow since it's $4 million makeover, you have to see all the cool features. If you've already seen it, it's always worth seeing again.

Cost: $10 (parking)

5. What: 

When: Saturday, May 12, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Where: Main Street, Tucker

Why go: Food, entertainment, and Patch's tent (stop by, get some free stuff and learn more about Patch).

Cost: free to enter
