City of Lithonia Tree Lighting and Christmas on Main

When: Sunday, Dec. 2, 6-8:30 p.m. Tree lighting at Kelly Park at 6:30 p.m. There will be vendors and activities from 7-8 p.m. on Main Street.

Where: Kelly Park, in downtown Lithonia, corner of Max Cleland Boulevard and Main Street

Why go: Holiday family fun, and a chance to support the city's small businesses. There will be music, dance performances, hot chocolate and cider.

Breakfast with Santa  

When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 7-10 a.m.

Where: Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, 5312 West Mountain Street (located at the corner of Ridge and W. Mountain Street).

Who's this for: Bring the kids, of course!

Why go: It's Santa!

How much: $6 donation requested. Proceeds benefit the food pantry in Stone Mountain.

Holiday in Smoke Rise

When: Saturday, Dec.1, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Smoke Rise Elementary Charter School, 1991 Silver Hill Rd., Stone Mountain

Who's this for: Everyone

Why go: You can pick up some great gifts and holiday ideas as well as support small businesses and crafters/artisans at the 31st annual event.

How much: Free to enter

Recording Memories with Mini-Scrapbooks

When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 1-2:30 p.m.

Where: Salem-Panola library, 5137 Salem Rd., Lithonia

Who's this for: Ages 18 and up

Why go: It's a creative way to display photos and share memories.

How much: Free, just bring your photos. All other materials will be provided.

Kaijudo Demo Day and Giveaway

When: Saturday, Dec. 1, 5 p.m.

Where: The Dragon's Horde, 5615 Memorial Dr., Stone Mountain.

Who's this for: The first 20 kids that arrive and participate in the free game play will get sample decks.

Why go: One word - giveaway. Also, kids can watch a learn-to-play video, and catch an episode of the Kaijudo TV series.

How much: Free.

Davidson-Arabia Nature Preserve Hike with Ranger Robby

When: Sunday, Dec.2, 8-10 a.m.

Where: Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve, 3787 Klondike Road, Lithonia, 30038.

Who's this for: Folks who can take on a 3-6 mile hike.

Why go: A fresh morning hike seems like a great way to start off the week -- and it's free! You'll learn about natural and cultural history, geology, forestry and much more.
