[VIDEO] Damage, Theft and Strong Faith at Kingdom City Church

Church members try to salvage what they can following a bold break-in.

Members of Kingdom City Church on Rockbridge Road are cleaning up the mess made by thieves who caused water damage when they ripped out copper pipes and wires earlier this week. The suspects also took off with furniture, kitchen utensils, food, appliances (including the refrigerator), supplies for kids, and more.

And in the midst of it all, pastor Mona Harper, wife of church Bishop James Harper, found much to be thankful for.

Stepping outside the wet basement on Thursday, where the thieves came in through a window, Pastor Harper placed drenched purple felt flags that she'd made for the children out on a table to dry. Then she looked at the sky, smiled, and said, "It's a beautiful day."

She also thanked people for their prayers and for the donations from The Home Depot, School Box, and churches such as New Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church and which has offered to let the Kingdom City congregation hold services there this Sunday, Dec. 18.

Singer-songwriter Jamie-Grace, one of the Harpers' daughters, posted to nearly 45,000 fans about the robbery and damage to her home church on her Facebook page. Jamie-Grace had recently started a "Want Less, Give More Christmas Challenge" to help with the church's programs for children.
