Thanksgiving Break: 10 Fun Activities and Events

From Snow Mountain to Turkey Bingo, check out the different activities in Stone Mountain and Lithonia help keep little kids, teens, and in some cases the whole family occupied.

DeKalb County schoolchildren are out for the whole week. Here are ten fun things going on in Stone Mountain and Lithonia -- some free, some with a price -- for them and for you:

(1) Turkey Bingo

(2) Afternoon Craft Hour - Turkey Time

When: Monday, Nov. 19, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Redan-Trotti Library, 1569 Wellborn Rd., Lithonia

Who's this for: Ages 5-12

Why go: Turkey craft fun.

How much: Free

(3) Turkey Tales

When: Tuesday, Nov. 20, 1-2 p.m.

Where: Salem-Panola Library, 5137 Salem Rd., Lithonia

Who's this for: Ages 5-12

Why go: Kids can enjoy turkey stories.

(4) You Sank My Battleship!

When: Tuesday, Nov 20, 2-4 p.m.

Where: Lithonia-Davidson Library, 6821 Church St., Lithonia

Who's this for: Ages 13-17

Why go: It's a life-size game of battleship, open to the first 20 participants.

(5) Hunger Games

When: Tuesday, Nov. 20, 5-7 p.m.

Where: Hairston Crossing Library, 4911 Redan Rd., Stone Mountain

Who's this for: Ages 13-17

Why go: Popular movie.

How much: Free

(6) REDA Teen Tuesday

When: Tuesday, Nov. 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: Redan-Trotti Library, 1569 Wellborn Rd., Lithonia

Who's this for: Ages 13-17

Why go: Teens can bring a snack and enjoy a movie.

How much: Free

(7) Baby Rhyme Time

When: Wednesday, Nov. 21, 10-10:30 a.m.

Where: Hairston Crossing Library, 4911 Redan Rd., Stone Mountain

Who's this for: 0-24 months

Why go: Babies and toddlers get to do rhymes and finger plays. It's fun.

How much: Free

(8) Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park

When: Nov. 22- Feb. 18

Where: Stone Mountain Park

Who's this for: Everyone

Why go: Dashing through the snow...before winter is officially here!

(9) Stone Mountain Village Annual Christmas Parade and Fireworks

When: Friday, Nov. 23, 4-8 p.m. (parade starts t 6 p.m.)

Where: Stone Mountain Village

Why go: Fireworks and lots of activities for the whole family - plus an opportunity for some Christmas shopping.

(10) Stone Mountain Park Christmas

When: Through January 1 (select dates)

Where: Stone Mountain Park

Why go: If you're looking to usher in the holiday season, this is a dazzling way.

Who's this for: Everyone

How much: You must buy one of the following to take part in the Stone Mountain Park Christmas activities:

  • Christmas Adventure Pass, $28 plus tax, adults; $22 plus tax, children ages 3-11
  • Snow Mountain & Christmas Combo Pass, $45, plus tax for child/adult; or
  • Mountain Membership, $56 for adults, $44 for ages 3-11.
