Stone Mountain Village Christmas Celebration Nov.25; PRISM Police Luncheon Dec.9

Different local groups ready to spread holiday cheer, appreciation.

Are those sleighbells you hear ringing? It's likely. Stone Mountain Village's Old Fashioned Christmas celebration kicks off Nov. 25 from 4-8 p.m., but if you've been through town lately, you've probably noticed that things are already looking mighty holiday-like.

Last week, for example, Patch spotted a worker putting ornaments on the giant tree next to the gazebo. And at last Saturday's art stroll, there were several holiday-themed decorations and gifts about, at places such as .

It gets better. At the official celebration, events and activities include:

  • the lighting of the tree;
  • parade;
  • pony rides;
  • marshmallow roasting;
  • fireworks;
  • candlelight shopping;
  • sand art cart;
  • and Christmas music.Β 

Some individual businesses in the Village are doing thier own special events as well. Butterfly House will have a "Kid's Holiday Ornament Painting/Decorating" - Nov. 25th from 4-6 p.m. Cost is $6 per person, which includes wood or ceramic ornament to decorate, paint, glitter, glue, etc.

There will be "the Elf Corner" at the Village Corner Restaurant and Bakery, story-telling at the gazebo, Corpus Christi children's choir and a professional costumed choir, and more.

PRISM Police Luncheon

Pride Rings in Stone Mountain (PRISM) is seeking donations, including monetary contributions and gift certificates, for its 14th annual police luncheon Dec. 9.

The group does the luncheon as a thank you to the men and women in blue. "They're there for us," said State Rep. and PRISM member Michele Henson.

In addition, the group delivers gift baskets filled with honey baked hams, sodas, and other fare to seven fire stations.
