Photos: Ice Sculpting at Stone Mountain Park

The first demo day was put on ice due to thunderstorms, so team members with Atlanta Ice Marvels had one day to finish its replica of the Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad train.

Atlanta Ice Marvels didn't have Saturday, Jan. 21, to work on its ice sculpture demo due to thunderstorms. So the crew started at about 6 a.m. Sunday to get the work done, using chain saws, chisels and other tools to craft 28 blocks of ice into a detailed replica of the Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad train.

is sponsoring the team's trip to Fairbanks, Alaska, where it will compete in the World Ice Art Championships next month, attracting teams from 38 nations.

Atlanta Ice Marvels placed fourth in the same competition last year, in the multi-block realistic category with a work called "Star Light, Star Bright." It was a scene where the Blue Fairy turned Pinocchio into a boy.
