Help Needed: Thrift Store Among Those Looking for Volunteers

Look just beyond Stone Mountain for opportunities, too.

Volunteers are welcome around Stone Mountain at places such as Stone Mountain Village, but just a few miles into Gwinnett or even within DeKalb County, the need for helping hands is great, too. Here are some of the groups inside and surrounding Stone Mountain that would welcome volunteers:

Friends of Disabled Adults & Children can use people to assist with clerical work, building ramps and beautification. Click here for more information about volunteering at FODAC, which is located at 4900 Lewis Rd., Stone Mountain, 30083. Contact volunteer coordinator Dianne Ramsey at 770-491-9014.

DeKalb Medical has "adult auxilian" and "college auxilian" opportunities. Adults put in about nine hours a month; a commitment of two semesters of service per year is required of college students. Click here for details on volunteering opportunities and to locate DeKalb Medical's three locations.

Place of Seven Springs, a non-profit, Christian organization helping those in its community, could use volunteers to run the register at its store, sort and hang clothing and sort donations. Contact Debbie Dowdin at 770-736-3377. The store is located at 3541 Stone Mountain Hwy 78, Suite 2, Snellville, 30078.
