Get Out: The Weekend Planner

When/Where: Friday, May 20, 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m., Angelic Art Studio and the Butterfly Studio, 977 Main Street, Stone Mountain.

Why Go: Join artists Angela Williams and Susan Ryles at their SMart Inc. space in the Stone Mountain Village this weekend for a girls-only event. Light snacks will be served as guests are welcome to make their own jewelry or vanity tray. The first round of cocktails are on the artists, so guests are welcome to BYOB.

Spargelzeit at the German Bakery

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, all day, The Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery, 6655 James B. Rivers Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Spargelzeit, or asparagus season, will hit the Village Bakery this Saturday. Owners Claus and Hilde Friese order crates of fresh white asparagus (which is less bitter than the green kind) straight from Germany and will offer a number of dishes this Saturday and next: asparagus soup, white and green asparagus salad, Schnitzel Oscar, and duck breast with asparagus and wild mushrooms. And of course the traditional German way: with new potatoes, ham and drawn butter.

Pricing: Appetizers start at $7, sandwiches at $9 and entrees at $15.

Walk and Wine

When/Where: Stone Mountain Old Post Office Emporium, from 6 - 8 p.m.

Why go: It's customer appreciation night at the OPO Emporium. Sample some wine and and finger foods and get caught up with your neighbors.

Pricing: It's free.

 

Jazz & Blues at Rotagilla Cafe

When/Where: Friday-Saturday, May 20-21, 7 p.m.-9 p.m., Rotagilla Creole Cafe, 2327 Main Street, Tucker.

Why Go: Tucker's Rotagilla Cafe has live jazz and blues music every Friday and Saturday while guests can eat off their tasty Cajun and Creole menu. Joe Palese Trio, a jazz and blues band, is playing Friday, and a New Orleans-style R&B jazz and blues band called Mojo Jazz is playing Saturday.

Pricing: Free to listen, but take a bite of their tasty menu. 

 

Lee Tyler Post at Summits Wayside Tavern

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 9 p.m., Summits Wayside Tavern525 Lake Center Parkway, Snellville. 

Why Go: Enjoy some rock music that ranges from alternative to acoustic and blues. Originally a San Diego-based artist, Lee Tyler Post has opened up for artists such as Blink-182 and has been on numerous morning shows. He's currently on a tour throughout the state, and will be running through Summits this Saturday.
