Get Out: The Weekend Planner

Charity events, Stone Mountain Park and other goodies line up the itinerary Friday through Sunday.

If the pollen isn't bothering you, get out and about this weekend; there are some good reasons to, such as charities, fundraisers and just plain old fun stuff.

Georgia Frontier Days

When/Where: Thursday-Friday, April 28-29, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Satuday-Sunday, April 30-May 1, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Stone Mountain Park,  1000 Robert E. Lee Drive, Stone Mountain.

Why Go: Step back in time at Stone Mountain's Antebellum Plantation for an event that relives the Civil War and pioneer eras. Replicating the look of a western frontier, attendees can get a bit of history by chatting with "explorers" of DeSoto in the 1500s, meeting the founder of the Georgia colony, and learning the different ways of cooking, daily skills, war strategies, medicine and more.

Pricing: Tickets are $11 for all ages. 

Bonnie & Clyde, The Two Person, Six Gun Musical

When/Where: Thursday-Saturday, April 28-30, 8 p.m., and Sunday, May 1, 3 p.m., ART Station, 5384 Manor Drive, Stone Mountain.

Why Go: Revisit the true story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Champion Barrow, the notorious couple that went on a countrywide crime spree in the 1930s. A classic that will sure to connect with both youngsters and older audiences, ART Station's latest production will chronicle the events of the famous lovers. See Patch's review .

Pricing: Tickets range from $18 to $27. 

DANCE INTO MAY

When/Where: Saturday, April 30, 5 p.m., Village Corner German Restaurant and Bakery. 

Why Go: The restaurant is carrying on an old German tradition, Tanz in den Mai (dance into May), a celebration of spring and new beginnings. There will be 20 costumed dancers performing. There will be a May pole, wrapped with ribbons and topped with a wreath, and the dancers do an intricate weave with the ribbons around the pole. Afterward, there's a dance for young and old.

Pricing: It's free.

ZUMBATHON CHARITY EVENT

When/Where: Sunday, May 1, 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Global Athletic Complex, 1813 Pounds Round, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Bring the whole family to show support for breast cancer with non-stop zumba, prizes and T-shirts. Zumba demos will be presented by Get in Shape Bootcamp, Zumba Fitness Party and Get in Shape Kids Camp. With proceeds going to the  Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, the event is team-sponsored by Thanks for the Mammories. 

Pricing: A $20 donation is suggested.

Smiles for Sheena Charity Golf Tournament

When/Where: Friday, April 29, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Heritage Golf Links, 4445 Britt Road, Tucker.

Why Go: Support cancer survivors and their families by playing golf and participating in other games and activities, while wearing golf attire, of course. All for a good cause, tickets include access to everything in the event: Putting challenges, drive contests, 18 holes of golf, lunch, games on the practice green and the $50,000 Hole-in-One Shoot Out. The Smiles for Sheena event is in honor of Sheena Michelle Kachelmeier, a 25-year-old who died of leukemia in 2010.

Pricing: Tickets to play golf and attend the charity start at $100, with $50 going toward benefactors while the other $50 going to the event's prize pool. Patrons can order tickets here.

7th Annual Lilburn Relay Rally

When/Where: Friday, April 29, 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m., Lilburn City Park, 76 Main Street, Lilburn. 

Why Go: Thirteen team sponsors (including Lilburn Patch) line up the annual Lilburn Relay Rally so far to support the American Cancer Society. As another team for the event, the Lilburn Women's Club will host a "Survivors Reception" honoring all local citizens who have fought cancer. Cancer survivors will lead the first lap of the relay, and entertainment will line the Lilburn Park stage throughout the evening. 

Pricing: Free to attend the rally.

Annual Spring Carnival at Mountain Park Elementary School

When/Where: Friday, April 29, 4 p.m.-7 p.m., Mountain Park Elementary School, 1500 Pounds Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: Kids are sure to get their carnival fix with this one: face painting, a cake walk, a huge slide and an inflatable obstacle course, and that's only a few of the activities on the list. Food and a money booth will also be available, and the carnival is doing everything with tickets, old-school style. 

Pricing: Twenty-five tickets are $5 and 52 tickets are $10. 

Karaoke & Dance Mix at Eastside Station

When/Where: Friday, April 29, 9 p.m.-3 a.m., Eastside Station, 2166 Highpoint Road, Snellville. 

Why Go: For those who like to sing and those who don't, Eastside Station has a compromise for both: Every Friday night, the party place has karaoke and dance music playing throughout the venue so that both types can have a good time. Don't like to dance or sing? Eat something tasty off the Eastside menu. 

Pricing: Everyone 21 and up are free all night; everyone else is $10. Must be 18 years old to enter.

Harmony Grove Preschool Garage Sale

When/Where:  Saturday, April 30, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Harmony Grove United Methodist Church, 50 Harmony Grove Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: Love garage-saling? Visit Harmony Grove United Methodist for their huge garage/yard sale this weekend to raise funds for their preschool's upcoming school year. 

Pricing: Free.
