Some ideas for things to do in the area this weekend.

Didn't do much for spring break? Or did you actually do something, but it ended up not being so great?

Here are some great end-of-vacation events for you and your family:

SPRING FUN BREAK

Find out what's happening in Stone Mountain-Lithoniawith free, real-time updates from Patch.

When/Where: Stone Mountain Park: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., April 7 - 9. 

Why go: It's the last few days of special spring break attractions at the park, including a baby animal show (you can pet some of them), a comedy improvisation show, story time, to name a few. That's in addition to the usual Sky Hike and other regular attractions.

"THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK"

When/Where: Friday-Saturday, April 8-9, 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 10, 2:30 p.m., New London Theatre, 2485 Main Street East, Snellville.

Why Go: Get ready for a classic with this 1956 Broadway masterpiece about a teenager girl in hiding with two Jewish families, including her own. Even though the Holocaust play has been remade a dozen times, getting inside Anne Frank's diary and mind seems to never get old. 

Pricing: Tickets are $12.60 each and can be purchased at the door or here. Some discounts and charges may apply.

: 101 SPRING EDITION

When/Where: Saturday, April 9, noon-2 p.m., Lilburn Cafe, 5514Lawrenceville Highway, Lilburn.

Why Go: Organized by Sooo Chic Accessories, ,  Smart Money Chicks and Virtuous Styls, this seminar on budget shopping will cover tons of criteria: blogs about thrifting, accessorizing on a budget, shopping for expensive items, how to consign and, of course, makeup. Appetizers, coupons, discounts and giveaways will be available at the head-to-toe event.

Pricing: Free, but RSVP here. Goodie bags filled with promotional items can also be purchased for $10.

GEORGIA AQUARIUM DOLPHIN TALES PREVIEW

When/Where: Saturday-Sunday, April 9-10, noon-5 p.m., The Avenue at Webb Gin, 1350 Scenic Highway, Snellville.

Why Go: The Avenue gets a glimpse of Georgia Aquarium's new AT&T Dolphin Tales Gallery in a 75-foot-long truck with the complete transformation of a ship. While the downtown aquarium will have a dolphin-viewing gallery, theater and show, the truck will have similar interactive exhibits (but no real dolphins, of course), along with games and giveaways, all while the family can learn more about the aquatic smarties.   

Pricing: Free for the whole family. 

When/Where: Saturday, April 9, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., , 94 Main Street, Lilburn.

Why Go: Lilburn native Terry Kay will be in Old Town Lilburn to talk about his latest novel, "Bogmeadow's Wish." "Bogmeadow's Wish" tells a story of a man who goes to Ireland to cast his grandfather's ashes and reminisce about stories his grandfather told. Among his other books are "The Book of Marie," which was named one of the Top 25 Books Georgians Should Read by the Georgia Center of the Book in 2008, and "To Dance With the White Dog," which was turned into a movie.  

Pricing: Free, but $26 if one wishes to purchase one of Kay's novels.

REMOVING DISTRACTIONS TO ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

When/Where: Saturday, April 9, 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Voices of Faith, Room 102, 2500 Rockbridge Road, Stone Mountain.

Why Go: Need to re-evaluate your life? As an interactive mini-workshop facilitated by success coach Natasha Davis-Bowen, Removing Distractions concentrates on effective decision-making, goal-planning and accomplishments. Attendees of the seminar will work to balance and re-evaluate their lives, manage stress and time, and create a vision board, all so that they can reach the road to success. If you're looking to professionally grow and develop a plan of action for yourself, this workshop may assist you to get there.

TUCKER CRUISE-IN 2011

When/Where: Saturday, April 9, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Main Street, Tucker. 

Why Go: Every second Saturday from April to September is Tucker Cruise-In day, where the community gathers around to mingle and showcase vintage and new vehicles and motorcycles. As the first one of the year, the event will have door prizes and tasty food while spectators can step back into an old-fashioned setting of Main Street Tucker. 

Pricing: Free to spectate, but to show off a car in the show, it's $5. 

BARRY BROWN BOOK SIGNING

When/Where: Sunday, April 10, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Community Room at SnellvilleCity Hall, 2342 Oak Road, Snellville.

Why Go: Co-author of "Crossroads of Conflict: A Guide to Civil War Sites in Georgia," Barry Brown comes to Snellvile to talk about and sign his latest creation. An updated and expanded edition of a photographic catalog guide passed by the state in 1994, "Crossroads of Conflict" talks about battle sites, hospitals, cemeteries and more in Georgia during the Civil War. Brown is a member of the Georgia Civil War Commission, and Civil War memorabilia will also be on display at the signing. 

Pricing: Free, but his novel retails for $22.95. 

A CELEBRATION TO COMMEMORATE SHRI SWAMINARAYANJAYANTI SHRI RAM NAVMI

When/Where: Sunday, April 10, 3:30 p.m., BAPS Shri Swaminarayan MandirHindu Temple, 460 Rockbridge Road, Lilburn. 

Why Go: Take a peek at a different culture that is just around the corner. At the Hindu temple in Lilburn, the congregation is celebrating the lives of Bhagwan ShriSwaminarayan, the central figure in modern Hinduism, and Bhagwan Shri Ram, one of the popular Hindu deities of values, morals and virtue. Organized and performed by the youth of the temple, the event will also feature kirtans (or hymns), traditional dances, spiritual discourses and dramas of the lives of the two Hindu figures.
