Five Things to Know Today, August 10

Not just another hump day: It's the 222nd day of the year.

Welcome to Wednesday, the 222nd day of the year. That's got to be lucky, right? Here are some things to know as you head into the day.

The weather: Sunshine, with a high of about 93 degrees. The low tonight will be about 72.

Georgia Military College: Classes started Monday at the GMC Stone Mountain extension in the village, and today is the last day to register for this term. There's no tuition this term for 2011 high school grads who apply for state and federal aid, even if they don't qualify for the aid.

45 days until autumn: It's time to think about planting fall veggies, anything from (more) cucumbers and yellow squash to greens and beans. Check the August gardening calendar from the University of Georgia Extension.

And the winner is: The winning numbers in the Mega Millions drawing are 11-19-39-45-54. Mega Ball = 15. Megaplier = 4X.

Today in history: Smile! Candid Camera debuted on ABC in 1948. In that first show, a waiter tells perplexed diners that liver is the only thing they can order, according to Entertainment Weekly.
