Thrifting: A Trend (And why I'm Completely Addicted)

Thrifting is replacing my need to go to "regular" department stores... and I'm loving it.

It seems that finding resourceful ways to shop and save has been on the incline, especially among my fellow 20 somethings.  Thrift stores are becoming inundated with "hipster" kids, and "afro punks", looking effortlessly thrown together with a bit of rockstar-chic dishevelment. There are even songs about this thrifting trend! Not so new, is the necessity to re-invent one's self as you grow. Thrift stores provide the perfect conditions to experiement with your style for just a few dollars!

I am a "hobbiest thrifter" which basically means I adore thrift stores, and I go as often as I can (which can be problematic). It's the thrill of finding a deal on something unique that keeps me coming back for more! Where else can you find vintage clothes and furniture in mint condition for pennies!?

In my experience the best thrift stores are just outside of the "big cities", so naturally, Stone Mountain is where you can find some of my favorite thrift stores. I can't tell you how many times I've uncovered treasure in St. Vincent de Paul or FODAC thrift store. My favorite thrifted item to date is a vintage golden sofa from FODAC.

Another wonderful thing about thrift stores, is that they are often linked to or sponsoring organizations that are benefitting all types of causes! Thus, the customers are helping provide jobs, supplies, and services to a variety of organizations.

I hope you found my first post helpful! Feel free to ask a question or tell me about your favorite thrift store purchases and experiences!
