Kingdom City Church on Rockbridge Road is celebrating this season of giving by hosting a Community Packing Party on Sunday, November 24, 5-7 p.m. to pack gift-filled shoeboxes for children living in desperate situations all around the world.
This is part of Kingdom City’s partnership with the international evangelical organization Operation Christmas Child.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has delivered over 103 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children living in extreme poverty and/or orphanages in the impoverished and war-torn areas of Central and South American, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.

Twelve-year-old Amauras of the Dominican Republic tells about the day he received his shoebox gift. His parents had died in an accident and he and his 3 younger brothers were living with a caretaker. One of his brothers was sick and Amauras was lonely and scared. Amauras cried the day volunteers from a local church visited, bringing gift-filled shoeboxes. Amauras said “Even though we don’t have a mom and dad anymore, we feel good because now have a family at church and many other children there whom we can call brothers. Now we are happy.”
In preparation for this community event, Kingdom City is collecting small toys, school supplies, socks, toothbrushes, bar soap, crayons, etc. Or you can drop off a packed shoebox today through Sunday, November 24, 4-8 p.m. or Monday, Nov. 25, 10-11 a.m.
