A woman in unincorporated Stone Mountain in Gwinnett county told police she sold gift baskets for $270 to a person who paid with a bad check on March 27. When the victim took the personal check, from a Best Bank account, to be cashed, she was informed by a bank employee that it was not good, the report states. The victim thought the check was forged.   A DeKalb county police officer working a part-time job at Dudleys Food & Spirits in Lithonia arrested a man who repeatedly shouted and cursed at cops and the bar manager, according to the incident report. On April 1 around 1 a.m. at Dudleys, 6691 Millwood Ln., the officer was talking in the front lot with another officer on patrol when the 41-year-old subject was observed coming up to the front of the bar, "cursing loudly at no one in particular at first" the report states.   A man who fled from police led them to a stash of pot in an apartment, according to a DeKalb county incident report. A police officer saw four males who looked to be juveniles smoking a marijuana cigarette in the 1200 block of S. Hairston Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain on March 5, the report states. One of the males had a black flag in his left rear pants pocket, "commonly displayed by gang members." The officer stopped the subjects in the Kroger parking lot.   A Conyers man was scammed out of $1,600 after two men who said they were South African pastors offered to "bless" his money, then took off with it, according to a DeKalb county police report. The incident happened Feb. 21 just before noon in the 6100 block of Covington Highway in Lithonia. According to the incident report, the victim flagged down a DeKalb county police officer at a traffic stop and said that he had been approached by the suspects who claimed to be men of the cloth.   A customer at the Waffle House at 1945 Rockbridge Rd. started cursing at another patron, then took off without paying his bill, according to Gwinnett county police. Police reported to the theft of services and disorderly conduct call at the restaurant in unincorporated Stone Mountain in Gwinnett county just after 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 16. The complainant told police that she was speaking with a group of people when the man, dressed in a gray denim hat, jacket and pants, got up from his table and started cursing at her, according to the incident report. A man who had $1,400 on him to pay various bills, including his rent, was taking out the trash when he was robbed by two men earlier this month, he told DeKalb county police. The incident happened in the 4800 block of White Ash Cv. in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Feb.1 around 6:30 p.m. According to the report, the victim said he walked to his vehicle, put the keys on the seat, then remembered he needed to bring the trash from his apartment to the Dumpster.   Two carjacking suspects were apprehended by DeKalb county police earlier this month, on the same day they allegedly stole a car that wouldn't start without help from the victim. The incident happened Feb. 3 in the 4600 block of Weyburn Lane in unincorporated Stone Mountain.   A 16-year-old shoplifting suspect at the Target store at 8109 Mall Parkway in Lithonia got into a scuffle with security personnel trying to take her into custody, according to a DeKalb county police report. Observing through surveillance cameras, the store's asset protection specialist told police he saw the suspect, of Atlanta, come into the store during the afternoon of Feb. 5 with about four other females. The asset protection specialist, who recognized the suspect from a previous incident, began to follow her along the aisles. He told police he saw her remove cell phones from the …
A woman in Gilbert, AZ told Gwinnett county police that someone charged an unauthorized transaction from the TJ Maxx store on Stone Mountain Highway to her bank account. The woman's bank notified her about the suspicious charges on Feb. 1, according to the police report. When she pulled up the online information, she saw the TJ Maxx charge of $118.01. A second transaction of $150 at the store was declined, the report states. The woman's bank said it would issue a provisional deposit for $118.01 to her account. The account was closed and a different card would be issued.
A man was arrested for shoplifting two packs of beer and a 12-count package of Ramen noodles at the Walmart at 1825 Rockbridge Rd. on Jan. 21, according to a Gwinnett county incident report. Police responded to a call from the store in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Jan. 21 about  theft in progress at around 10:39 p.m. on Jan. 21. The complainant, an employee who was working a cash register, said she witnessed two men and a female "run out of the store" with the items in a cart. A person stole all four tires and rims from a 1968 Green Chevrolet Impala on Jan. 14 in the 6300 block of Rockbridge Rd., the victim told DeKalb county police. The suspect did not enter the vehicle, according to the incident report. The tires and rims were valued at $800. In another recent incident, suspects ransacked a man's 2002 blue Ford utility truck sitting in his driveway, but apparently didn't find what they were looking for. A man tried to pay for merchandise at Big Lots on Stone Mountain Highway with a $100 bill that a store manager suspected was a "washed out" $5 bill, she told Gwinnett county police. The incident happened at the store in unincorporated Stone Mountain in Gwinnett county, 5370 Stone Mountain Highway, on Jan. 20. The manager told police that the suspect had been in and out of the store over the previous two days. When he attempted to purchase goods with the "$100" bill on Jan. 20 around 1:40 p.m., the manager inspected the currency, and had her suspicions that it was a $5 bill in disguise. …
Two home invasion suspects told their victim that they would be back after bursting into his house in the 4000 block of Cedar Ridge Trail and looking around for more than the $18 he had. A RaceTrac clerk got into a scuffle with a robbery suspect and threw him out of the store, according to a DeKalb County incident report. The incident happened at the RaceTrac at 2294 Rock Chapel Rd. in Lithonia. Two clerks were at the sandwich cooler around 2 a.m. on Jan. 10 when the suspect came into the store with his right hand under his shirt. The suspect brought the workers behind the counter and demanded that the clerk give him money from the cash register. A Marietta man told DeKalb County police he's out $4500 for ten iPhones he never received from a person on Craigslist that he met at the Lithonia Best Buy parking lot on Dec. 15. According to the incident report, the victim he replied to an ad on Craigslist posted by a person identifying himself as "Chance" who said he was selling the 64GB phones for $450 each. An armed suspect fired a shot as he robbed a woman getting out of her vehicle in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Dec. 9 according to a DeKalb County incident report. An armed suspect robbed the Kroger grocery store at 1232 S. Hairston Rd. one early morning last week, according to a DeKalb County incident report. In the Dec. 6 incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m., a cashier told police that the suspect walked into the store and placed a silver handgun near her side, then said, "Open the register." The cashier said she was forced at gunpoint to open three registers and was not sure how much the suspect stole, the report states. She was not injured. A hooded, masked thief swiped $450 from the Comfort Inn & Suites at 5355 Stone Mountain Highway in unincorporated Stone Mountain on Nov. 19 around 5 a.m. as the hotel's night clerk prepared breakfast in the kitchenette, according to a Gwinnett County police report. The clerk had been going in and out of the kitchenette area for about ten minutes, he told police.
