Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

What Do You Wish Were Here? The Former Super Target Space on W. Park Place Blvd.

The store closed in early 2010.

Stone Mountain-Redan Patch saw this "What Do You Wish Were Here" column on Berkeley (Calif.) Patch, and thought it would be a good idea here.

We want readers to tell us what they wish were in the place of shuttered or abandoned space in the Stone Mountain-Redan area.

Berkeley Patch explains where it got the idea to start a "What Do You Wish Were Here" column:

"The idea was inspired by Candy Chang from New Orleans, who in 2010 created "I wish this was" stickers and placed thousands around the city for residents to fill in the blanks. Stickers can be bought online here."

So in this first column, we want to know: What do you wish were at the former Super Target on W. Park Place Blvd.?

About this column: Share your ideas on what could replace shuttered or abandoned buildings in the Stone Mountain and Lithonia areas. Related Topics: Super Target

I agree! I think Trader Joe's would be perfect in this space. I actually sent an email to Trader Joe's Corporate Office identifying this location as a place that they might want to survey if seeking another solid location in Georgia.

Obviously the Super Target is still very much missed! And I can't believe I've never been to Trader Joe's.

I'd love to see it converted into some sort of entertainment venue...it would be nice to have a place to see a concert, etc.

Hi Adrean, that's a good question! I don't recall seeing contact information at the site for purchase/leasing inquiries, though.

Target is not coming back. The community drove them out. They bought the hype about Wally world and didn't patronize them. Business is business and that's why people are in business. the community should have thought about that before and should think about it now.

I would like to see either a Whole Foods Market or a Farmer's Market like the one in Decatur.

I know it's a stretch, but I often drive by that property wishing that my church, Victory World Church--Norcross, would use the campus as a satellite location. (That way I wouldn't have to make the 30-minute drive to church every weekend;-)

It should be converted into a Teen Facility....Too many loose teens running around with nothing to do...

There is a lot of truck drivers who are always looking for a place to lay there head at night I think a truck stop with game room would be best there is no truck stops on this side of Atlanta one with a truckers chapel

I favor the Dave and Busters from the choices mentioned here. However, I'd
definitley endorse and support a Red Lobster eatery ! !

I thought about two things for this facility every time I drove passed it. (1) An event facility that's all in one since it is such a big building or (2) Planet Fitness.

Tamara, you got the message ... A multi- use venue may fill the space
faster and benefit the community better! Although I do Kroger, I love
Whole Foods. I also like to bowl ! Good family & date night fun...

I have never cried over a store but when Super Target closed I did. I never shopped at Wally World, I always choose them. @Debbie Torbush ditto her list maybe even a Movie Tavern, BJ's. I've never been to Dave and Buster I understand it's a fun place to go. Maybe a Family Fun Center bowling, arcade, small movie theater something like that. There is a need for an occupant. I still look over there while driving from time to time and long for my TarJay. I know it's a stretch but IKEA!!!! I won't have to go downtown anymore.

Target should come back. And it should be expanded as shopping center with stores like Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, Pier One or Cost Plus, an REI (to support active Stone Mountain visitors). There should be some decent, mid-price stand alone restaurants. There's no place nearby to get good Italian, Thai, Japanese, sushi, BBQ or even a good All American restaurant.

Costco wanted to build in North Dekalb shopping mall but didn't because of community concerns about something or another. BJs isn't doing that well having closed a store on Jimmy Carter. Fact of the matter is as long as that community and it's elected representatives have its love affair with Walmart nothing retail of that type will survive there. With 5 Walmarts within a 5 mile radius of the former Target be happy that there is a Kroger and a Publics.

It would be wonderful Bruce if we could move past WALMART.But it looks
like we are attached for as far as I can see. Viable community retail resource...
just too MANY of them! Hoping for Kroger, Whole Foods, Dave and Busters!
Sorry folks... Target has left the building permanently ! !
