What Do You Wish Were Here?

The Bridge Cafe building on Memorial Drive is run-down, and trash and furniture are strewn on a section of its parking lot. What do you wish were there instead?

Was the Bridge Cafe on Memorial Drive a nice place once? It seems as if it might have been.

But there aren't any culinary delights being served up at the Bridge Cafe anymore.

It's a run-down building with a sofa and trash in its parking lot.

Tell Patch: What do you wish would replace the Bridge Cafe? Tell us your ideas in the comment section below.

      Leslie,

This business was "doomed" from the start- the building is suited for a Professional(s) practice as a Real Estate office, Attorney, or CPA etc.

Thank you Larry -- I didn't know that. I guess anything that goes in that building should have that purpose, then. I wonder what the restaurant looked like inside?

Based on the architecture, I think back in the "olden" days it was probably Old Hickory House. Just guessing. But I pass that location everyday. It is an eyesore, for sure. I think a professional practice is a good idea or heck just bulldoze it and plant some trees, throw in some grass and a picnic bench or two.

Hi April, I was thinking the same thing -- maybe just start over! The building looks to be in really poor shape. Thanks for reading!

The orignal building was a S& S CAFETERIA then sold and became the bridge cafe..The food was good.....I think a lot of businesses (red lobster, chilis) closed after they divide the memorial dr area.

Janyce, thanks for the background! The cafe's menu items can still be found online...any idea when it closed?

If I remember correctly back in the 70s it was an Old Hickory House. Can't remember when it changed though.

Hi Mary, I went to Old HIckory House's website and I can definitely see the similarities in the look. Thanks for reading!

I think it should be rebirthed and be run by a non profit organization to feed the hungry daily, and provide other free service for the underpriviledged.
