Vehicular Homicide Suspect Indicted

Chasity Jones, 22, is accused in the death of an Atlanta police officer.

Vehicular homicide suspect Chasity Jones, the woman from Stone Mountain in Gwinnett County who is accused in the death of an Atlanta Police officer, has been indicted. As a result, she won't have a court hearing today (Feb. 9), the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said.

Her indictment number has not been assigned to a Superior Court Judge yet, the Sherrif's office said.

Atlanta Police say Gail Thomas, a 15-year veteran of the Atlanta Police Department, was struck and killed on the I-75/I-85 Brookhaven late last month by a vehicle driven by Jones, 22.

Police say Jones blew a .16 on scene and refused consent for a state administered blood alcohol reading. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that the reading is twice the level considered to be too impaired to drive.
