Vehicular Homicide Suspect Denied Bond

Preliminary/bond hearing set for Feb. 9 for Chasity Jones, of Stone Mountain in Gwinnett County, who was charged in the death of an Atlanta police officer earlier this week.

The Fulton County Sheriff's office said a judge denied bond for the charge of vehicular homicide Thursday for Chasity Jones, of Stone Mountain in Gwinnett County, who is a suspect in the death of an Atlanta police officer earlier this week.

Gail Thomas, a 15-year veteran of the Atlanta Police Department, was struck and killed on the I-75/I-85 Brookhaven Tuesday evening.

Police say driver Jones, 22, blew a .16 on scene and refused consent for a state administered blood alcohol reading. The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that the reading is twice the level considered to be too impaired to drive.

Jones will remain in jail for another two weeks before a preliminary/bond hearing happens on Feb. 9, 9 a.m. in courtroom 8C of the Fulton County Courthouse, the sheriff's office sJaid.

Fulton County Judge Jessy Lall granted bond at $10,000 for DUI and $5,000 for failure to yield to a person authorized to direct traffic, according to the sheriff's office.

A search warrant was obtained and blood was retrieved at Grady Hospital. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, those results have not been released.

Jones was charged with felony first-degree vehicular homicide as well as two misdemeanors, driving under the influence and failure to yield to person authorized to direct traffic.

Chasity Jones starts out being punished cause she might have to stay in the really crappie Fulton co jail for a year waiting trial before she goes to prison for ten to fifteen years..
Things could have been different if only the cop had looked before jumping out in front of a car and killing herself... she could have seen that car comming.

I love here. And will support her. I understand what she did is wrong. But mistakes happen. And this was a mistake. But it was because of the alcohol.

Every single person who has consumed an alcoholic beverage in their life has absolutely gotten behind the wheel. If you say you've never done it you'd be lying. I think 16 years in prion is insane. People get less for intentional murders.
