Stone Mountain City PD Investigating Murder, Gunshot Victim
Darius Myles Grays was shot and killed Aug. 31; within the same time frame of the murder, a gunshot victim was taken to DeKalb Medical, city police say.
The City of Stone Mountain Police Department said Friday that it is investigating whether two incidents are related: a murder on Aug. 31 at The Lakes Apartments, and a gunshot victim being dropped off at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur within the same time frame of the murder.
According to Stone Mountain City police, they responded to a person shot call on Friday, Aug. 31 at the apartment complex located at 5100 W. Mountain St., where they found Darius Myles Grays, 34, killed by a single gunshot to the lower abdomen.
City police say they know that two black male suspects fled the scene in a silver or grey vehicle with a black female driver. According to police, one of the black male suspects reportedly has a low hair cut, the other, dreads.
Police say they have learned that a black male victim was dropped off at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur with multiple gunshot wounds. This drop-off happened in the same time frame of the homicide at The Lakes Apartments, police say.
According to Stone Mountain City police, the unidentified victim was transported from DeKalb Medical to Grady Hospital and is still in critical condition.
In addition to finding out if the two incidents are related, police are seeking the identity of those who dropped the victim off at DeKalb Medical as well as the victim.
