Armed Suspect Robbed S. Hairston Kroger On Dec. 6
The suspect demanded a cashier remove money from three registers, according to a DeKalb County incident report.
An armed suspect robbed the Kroger grocery store at 1232 S. Hairston Rd. one early morning last week, according to a DeKalb County incident report.
In the Dec. 6 incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m., a cashier told police that the suspect walked into the store and placed a silver handgun near her side, then said, "Open the register."
The cashier said she was forced at gunpoint to open three registers and was not sure how much the suspect stole, the report states. She was not injured.
Two workers were in the back of the store when the robbery occurred, according to the report; neither saw the crime, but one did see the suspect leave.
The security officer was on his lunch break during the incident, the report states.
The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, 6 feet, with broad shoulders, hazel eyes, wearing a gray hoodie, black scarf covering his mouth and red bookbag on his back. He was wearing black shoes with a gold or yellow stripe on the side.
According to the report, the incident was caught by the store's security cameras.

This can be a very dangerous location. You have to really watch your surroundings when visiting this location.

i haven't heard of any incidents during the day. Please be careful with labeling , before you know it we'll have another store closing in the neighborhood. i hope the video leads to an arrest and the store is more vigilant at night.

i agree della. I have lived in that area over 15 years, and this is rare. I think the metro area is getting more dangerous as a whole. But the security guard on break? Are you freaking serious? And evidently he takes his break at 3am every night, and the robber knew this. Come on folks, do better!

Dekalb/Lithonia need more police officers. Why don't they patrol like they do in alpharetta and North Dekalb??? Protection is always slacking where there is a large concentration of blacks.

It would be more accurate to say: far more protection is needed when there's a large concentration of blacks. But of course that's considered racist - no matter how true.
