The Granite Grasshopper 5K Run takes places on Oct. 13, but if participants want to collect some nice swag at the event, they need to register by this Saturday, Sept. 15.

Registrations received by that date are guaranteed to get a t-shirt or sweatshirt (5K participants get a "high quality" sweatshirt; wellness walkers, a long sleeve T-shirt).

The Granite Grasshopper Wellness Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m.

It's also cheaper to register before Sept. 15. For the 5K, registration is $20; $25 after Sept. 15. For the wellness walk, registration is $15 until Sept 15; after that, its $20.

Proceeds from the event benefit Stone Mountain Elementary and Champion Theme Middle School. The event raised $1,450 for each school in 2011.
