Music Hall Planned for Stone Mountain Village

First, blues and jazz will be featured Monday nights starting in mid-February at Wells Cargo Restaurant.

This piece of news might be music to your ears: A music hall is in the works for Stone Mountain Village.

β€œWe will have a full blown music hall in a few months in the Village which is in the planning stages now,” Hilda Wells, the proprietor of in Stone Mountain Village, said in an announcement.

Until then, starting in mid-February through a partnership between Wells Cargo and The DeKalb Council for the Arts, there will be blues and jazz every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. at the restaurant, said Jack Sartain, concert producer, organizer of special events and arts council founder, in the announcement. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. on those nights.

Sartain said in the announcement that the professional musicians will present all forms of blues and jazz. The combos range from four to seven members and each Monday night a different group will be showcased.

The first combo is Capitol City Jazz Combo, led by Charles "Buzz" Alford, according to Sartain.

A cover charge will include the two one-hour sets each Monday by the region’s "best jazz and blues players," according to the announcement. There will be a light buffet of "munchies" and a non-alcoholic drink. Patrons may purchase menu items and bar items as they would on regular restaurant days. The restaurant is only open on Mondays for the blues and jazz performances.
