I think you might feel differently if your daughter's name was the very next name called and you could not hear it because of the loud cheering from another family. At a brookwood graduation a couple of years ago we could not hear the name of our cousin. The person one or two before him had about six or seven family members in the audience and they cheered, had noise makers and whooped it up. It was loud and disruptive. Perhaps jail is to harsh; but these people don't feel shame. The shameful behavior continues year after year. Her baby made it. But so did every other child in that graduation ceremony. Really, is it that great of an accomplishment? Seems to me the parents diminish the accomplishment by ignoring the very rules they send their kids to school to learn.

When my daughter graduated from high school, one of her male classmates actually jumped on one of the teachers on stage in a humping gesture, after he got his diploma. That behavior deserved something close to jailing! It's true that the parents were forewarned and ,unfortunately, chose to ignore it. I've been to many such events and too many people just act out like that mother. I know she was proud of her dgtr., but so were other parents who may have struggled against many obstacles to get to graduation day.

She knew the Rules & Regulations of the Graduation Ceremony, She acted worse, being a mother of a student, setting a great example to her child plus others. Lock her up good, until she know how to respect other Students and there Family's

I definitely think she should have suffered the consequences, but jail seems a bit harsh. Maybe she could have been removed from the auditorium and fined a reasonable amount.

Wrong only if she didn't know the rules.... She did.

Most people in society don't have concern for everyone around them. Every time I go to a concert or movie, there is people talking or their kids being loud . Most of the time they dont stop or remove the problem.
She was warned and should have consequences. I hope and Pray when my son graduates in 4 years, people behave .

Jail seems a bit much for this. It wasn't criminal, it was just rude.

I read about a different graduation where any kid who's family was loud and cheered couldn't get their actual diploma until they finished a week's worth of some sort of community service. It sucks for the graduate, who didn't do a thing wrong.
Pretty soon they'll just telecast the graduation and no one will be allowed to actually be there.
Seriously, it's just high school, be proud but save that flipping out for when they get out of college.

In my opinion she has the right to cheer her daughter on because now days most teenagers don't make it to a high school graduations. As a mom myself I would have cheered my child on also it is a lil show of support that helps kids move on to the next step. So jail should not be a option, u guys are saying people can't hear their family members being called after a family cheers but she didn't do all the rowdy cheering she said a few words and that was it.
