If you are committing a crime. You should be responsible for what happens to you during apprehension.

@Tony Cade my car was stolen in Atlanta in 2006. The officer that responded to the call flat out told me if they see a person driving my car which has been reported stolen they can't go after the person in a chase. They have to try to pull the person over then proceed to attempt an arrest ask questions all that stuff. If the person floors the stolen car to flee APD can't chase them. The reason...APD was sued out the wazoo because a man stole a car, cops chased him high rate of speed, crashed, broken bones, hospital bills and all that, man sued and won and he is the one that STOLE the car he was in and crashed trying not to get caught. Not right, not fair and actually stupid.

walmart sued big time and watch the stores policy change behind this. they'll no longer be able to peruse a shoplifter outdoor. you basically are gonna be able to walk in steal and run out and there is nothing they can do. hot mess. if he wasn't stealing he'd be alive

Remy....It has nothing to do with the fact that Tony can easily make these statements because it's not his child. It's simply wrong for him to steal. No one deserves to die in this manner, BUT THESE ARE THE CONSEQUENCES WHEN YOU MAKE BAD CHOICES!!! I have a son, and I dig in his a&& when he gets out of pocket or make bad choices, and I don't conceal it. It is what it is. That how you learn. It is not okay to take something that doesn't belong to you. One of the reason why certain communities have higher insurances premium and higher prices of merchandise is because of high risk activity. So, when a store continues to experience loss prevention, we all suffer!!!

All over money. Am I the only one who sees this is a huge issue? First its walmart which is worth how much? Second you are an employee who gets paid how much? Thirdly this guy took 2 dvd players worth how much? And these people take a life over it? Possibly this man thought hey I can get quite a bit of money out of these 2 items versus a few more items of less value and maybe he was needing the money for toys or food for his family? Its rarely the case but always a possiblity. Either way taking a life over money is the most absurd thing we have done as a species and I am only hoping this is the dark before the storm and the rainbow will shine one day because this is horrid.

I don't think the employees tried to kill the man they were keeping a shoplifter until the police came. Forceful... I'm sure they were. This man was most likely fighting them back. It doesn't matter how much in merchandise the man stole it's the fact that he stole in the first place. You never prosper when you take what does not belong to you. This man paid the ultimate price for 2 DVD players? SICK and SAD What a foolish act. There are so many factors that we don't know. The man could have been high on drugs, he could have had a heart condition, he could have had a heart attack. His death may not be the employees fault at all. It was a tragic series of events that led to the death of this man. If he had not stole in the first place he might be alive today. It's sad and heartbreaking for all involved.

There is no defense for this thief's actions. He died during a robbery and the true crime here is that Walmart may face some sort of repercussion for his death. Society is losing any sense of people having personal responsibility. And dear God people, check your spelling and grammar before you post!!
