Great Escape: Georgia Farms Offer Fall Fun

Enjoy the beautiful weather at a great Georgia corn or apple farm.

Ah! Cooler weather has finally arrived in Georgia. Some of my favorite Fall memories include apple orchards, pumpkin patches and caramel apples. Here are a few places that you can explore the fun activities of Fall and let your inner child out to play.

Corn Mazes - Farms with corn mazes can be fun for the whole family if you plan right. Bring a picnic lunch and a babysitter/ grandparent (Yes, you have to pay for their admission even if they don’t play). Then, take part in the fun. Go down the hay slides, pet an animal, ride the crazy 4-wheeler train, jump on the jumpy things, enjoy a hay ride and get lost in the corn box.

To create a real adventure, let the sitter watch the kids on the rides while you and your husband navigate the maze. We all know how painful this can be with little kids in tow, so enjoy this fun adventure- get lost, sneak a kiss, and use the logical part of your brain!

Local Favorites: Corn Dawgs off 81 east of Loganville, Cagle’s Family Farm in Canton, Washington Farms in Watkinsville

Apple Orchards – Oh, beautiful Ellijay. Cider, donuts, warm apple pies, apple bread. Can you smell it? Start by making a plan for your apples. Get recipes, jars or ingredients ahead of time so you can be ready when you get home. Or, get little gift bags and give treats of apples, apple butter and bread to teachers as a Fall thank you.

Go for the Georgia Apple Festival on Oct 8 - 9, and Oct 15 - 16. Enjoy 400 craft vendors, a car show, parade and ALL things apple. Or, go to a great u-pick farm like BJ Reece or Red Apple Barn.

Explore the fall season with the curiosity and exuberance of a child.  That way, everyone has fun on outings - Mom, too!

Note: Look for coupons in the Valupak.
