Update: Get Out: A Look at What to Do This Weekend

End the last weekend of August with a bang.

Next month starts the fall season, so end the last month of summer with some warm weather activities. 

Editor's Note: This update deletes the Diva Dance Day entry because the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17.

Last Blast of Summer with Kicks 101.5

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m., Stone Mountain Park, 1000 Robert E. Lee Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Kicks 101.5 presents an entire day of country artists, featuring Scott Thompson and Peachtree Station, JT Hodges and Sonia Leigh. CMT Music Award-nominated Steel Magnolia will also be performing. For a complete list of artists and set times, click here. The usual lasershow and fireworks will end the night, too.

Pricing: The concert and lasershow are free with the vehicle parking permit, which costs $10 for one-time use and $35 annually. 

Stone Mountain Village Art Stroll

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 7 p.m.-9 p.m., SMart Inc. Studios and Galleries, 951A Main Street and 977 Main Street, and ART Station, 5384 Manor Drive, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: ART Station and the five SMart Inc. studios are taking over the Village for an evening of art, music, light food and drinks. Featured artists include Bill Leavell for graphite art, Debbie Thigpen for enamel and stain glass, Tracie Hawkins for quilting and painting, Susan Ryles for clay and 3D, and Angela Williams for clay and painting. Patrons can also view ART Station's Gwinnett Technical College's Portfolio Show, which debuted last weekend. 

Pricing: Free. 

Designer Garage Sale in Kanawha

When/Where: Sunday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m., Kanawha Golf and Tennis Country Club, 1744 Kanawha Trail, Stone Mountain. 

Why Go: Everything's under $5 at a garage sale in one of Smoke Rise's most notable neighborhoods. Designer clothing, toys, books, CDs, DVDs and other items will be available for all to browse. 

Pricing: Free. 

Last Weekend for Lilburn Farmers' Market

When/Where: Friday, Aug. 26, 4 p.m.-8 p.m., Greenway Parking Lot (across from the Lilburn City Park), 76 Main Street, Lilburn. 

Why Go: This is the last weekend for the Farmers' Market until next summer, so stock up as much as you can on fresh lettuce, delicious peaches and everything else the market has to offer. While you're there, grab a tamale from Blue Tailed Lizard Tamales and a sea salt chocolate popsicle from the King of Pops. 

Pricing: Free. 

Dog Days "Bark to School" at Trickum Middle School

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., Trickum Middle School, 130 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn.

Why Go: Trickum Middle School is raising funds to build a new outdoor community theatre with this fun event. There'll be games and activities (living tic tac toe, anyone?), K-9 demonstrations from Gwinnett police, handmade crafts and arts for sale. Dogs on leashes are welcome, and can even compete for prizes.

Pricing: Parking and admission are free.

End of Summer Craft Bazaar

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Zoar United Methodist Church, 3895 Zoar Church Road, Snellville. 

Why Go: Zoar UMC is celebrating its 200th year with a craft bazaar. Vendors such as the Kookie Kutter and SpedBott (who has items on Etsy) will have booths, in addition to others who will be selling jewelry, scarves, pottery, hair accessories and more. The bazaar will also have onsite crafters, a bake sale, a silent auction and door prizes. 

Pricing: Free. 

South Gwinnett High School Band Neighborh​ood Garage Sale

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 9 a.m., South Gwinnett High School, 2288 East Main Street, Snellville. 

Why Go: The high school band is having a garage sale, with proceeds going toward competitions, uniforms and travel costs.  

Pricing: Free. 

SKILLA's Pop Up Shop

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., ATL Music Room, 4300 Chamblee Tucker Road, Tucker. 

Why Go: SKILLA, a graphic T-shirt company with the slogan, "Clothing That Brings Glory," is celebrating its third anniversary as a company and first year in Georgia. The event will have games, giveaways and refreshments.

Nancy Creek and Bluegrass Jam at the Old Tucker Fountain

When/Where: Sunday, Aug. 28, 6 p.m., the Old Tucker Fountain, 2329 Main Street, Tucker. 

Why Go: What used to be a pharmacy in Tucker in now the Old Tucker Fountain, which has family-friendly bluegrass music events every Sunday of the year. From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Nancy Creek will perform, and afterward, guests are welcome to play their instruments for a bluegrass jam, so bring those fiddles and banjos. Make sure to try some of their American-style food such as chicken and pork barbecue, burgers, ice cream and milkshakes.
