Workshop on Kensington LCI Initiative May 31

Study area includes the Kensington MARTA Station and the I-285/Memorial Drive interchange.

There will be a community workshop about the Kensington Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Transit Oriented Development Plan on Thursday, May 31, 6-9 p.m. at Georgia Perimeter College's JCLRC Auditorium.

The address is 555 Indian Creek Drive, Clarkston.

Neighbors, community leaders, county officials, are among those expected to brainstorm ideas about the plan, which is sponsored by DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department and the Atlanta Regional Commission, according to a press release shared by Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton's office.

The end-result will be a comprehensive development plan for the study area building on the LCI Plan created in 2002, the release said. Land use and transportation issues will be addresed in the plan.

The release said the study area consists of the Kensington MARTA Station, a large DeKalb County governmental core, the I-285/Memorial Drive interchange, multifamily neighborhoods, and a one-mile radius of the study area boundary.

TSW, Grice & Associates, and Marketek were chosen by DeKalb County to lead the planning effort, according to the release. The effort includes public involvement, a detailed market assessment, concept plan development, and implementation plan, the release said.
