Big Lots: Lithonia Store Closing Jan. 15
The plan is for the store to be razed to make way for a new Walmart Neighborhood Market.
According to an e-mail from Big Lots customer care department to Patch, its store at 6150 Covington Highway in Lithonia is set to close this week, on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
The communication reads:
Thank you for contacting Big Lots. We currently show that store closing effective 1/15/2013. Let us know if you have any questions.
Patch first inquired with the company's marketing department about the Lithonia store closing but was instructed to send questions to the customer care department.
Walmart wants to raze the building and construct its grocery-only concept, Neighborhood Market, in its place.
Bill Wertz, a Walmart spokesman, told Patch that there's no date yet for construction to start on the Neighborhood Market, but the company hopes to start the bidding process in April.

There was a Big lots on Memorial drive. It closed due to theft and mismanagement, not be cause of Wal-Mart.
Big Lots used to have lots of good items and low/close-out prices, they no longer are like what they used to be. At least there is a retailer that can fill the space.
