Athlete Says Stone Mountain 'Was No Joke'
Michael Mills of Covington, who is paralyzed from the waist down, climbed Stone Mountain on Saturday to raise money for a charity, bring awareness to athletes with disabilities and to push himself.
Michael Mills crawled to the top of Stone Mountain -- just as he and his supporters knew he could.
The athlete, who is paralyzed from the waist down, climbed up the mountain Saturday morning (Feb. 9) for the first time, with a group of people making the trek with him (while lugging their own challenges, such as tires) and offering encouragement.
Mills wrote on his Chasing Spartan Michael Mills Facebook page:
Wow!! What a day I have had. all I have to say is Stone Mountain was no joke. I want to thank everyone who put on work today and thank you all who pushed me today. I owe you all. We did it guys.
Mills is raising money for the charity Bert's Big Adventure.
